Scholarships at L.A. Matheson Secondary recognize graduating students for excellence in their chosen area of strength and interest. These scholarships are intended to provide recognition and tuition assistance to students pursuing post-secondary education.
Scholarships at L.A. Matheson are awards that originate from within the school or the school district. There are two main types of awards available
To win a scholarship, a student must apply to the scholarship committee and:

Scholarships at L.A. Matheson are awards that originate from within the school or the school district. There are two main types of awards available
- Internal L.A. Matheson Scholarships & Bursaries (includes district authority awards)
- School District Partners Scholarships & Bursaries
To win a scholarship, a student must apply to the scholarship committee and:
1. Meet the following basic eligibility requirements:
- Must intend to study full-time at an accredited university, college, or technical institute
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (landed immigrant) at the time of registration in the school year for which the scholarship is awarded;
- Must be a BC resident;
- Must be enrolled at L.A. Matheson Secondary in the school year for which the scholarship is awarded.
3. Meet criteria determined by the scholarship committee, which requires a student to demonstrate achievement in any of the following focus areas:

Senior academic courses such as social sciences, sciences, and mathematics Business Ed, Technology Ed, Home Economics, Information Communication Technology Volunteer Activity, which includes awareness of local, global, and cultural issues Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, Music Performance in a Languages curriculum Language and culture demonstrated in school or in the community Athletics, Dance, Gymnastics, not limited to Physical Education Carpentry, Automotive, Mechanics, Culinary Training |
